Academic English is a sequential and developmental course designed to develop students' English Language proficiency particularly within an academic or professional context. The TIES Academic English course will prepare students in all components of the exam to ensure success and more importantly to prepare our students for future pathways such as tertiary education and employment opportunities.
The IELTS score is required by many Australian universities as a prerequisite for entrance into both undergraduate and postgraduate study. Students must have either finished a beginner or intermediate TIES course or have been placed in an intermediate or advanced class to study Academic English.

Academic English prepares students so that they can gain an excellent IELTS band score. The course will also help students proficiency particularly within an academic or professional context.
An important component of the TIES academic English course is the use of past IELTS papers in preparation for the examination. Therefore the course prepares students directly for the type of test they will be taking ensuring the best possible result whilst learning the intricacies of the English language within an educational or professional framework.
Because TIES incorporates small class sizes this means that students have more one on one contact with teachers and therefore more opportunities to learn, practice, improve and excel in English communication. Students spend 22 hours per week of English language instruction. It is strongly recommended that students begin at the start of each term particularly for Academic English. However, they may also begin on any Tuesday during the term.
