Pearson Test of English (PTE)

The purpose of this course is to prepare you to successfully take the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE-A) Test. A PTE-A test can be used for a range of different purposes from migration to tertiary studies, and as such, test takers require a range of different scores to achieve success. This course will provide a range of opportunities for you to improve your communicative and enabling skills to achieve the score you require.

PTE-A is a globally recognised computer-based English language test that has been designed to accurately measure your English language ability. There are 20 different task types which reflects the wide range of situations and contexts in which test takers will potentially use the language, from professional and government organisations to educational institutions. For instance, one task type will test your comprehension of a lecture by requiring you to re-tell it, while another will test your ability to understand a written passage by writing a summary of the text. IELTS: Academic and General

IELTS Preparation provides students with the skills, techniques and knowledge necessary so they can gain the band score they require. The course will also help students' proficiency particularly within an academic or professional context. An important component of the TIES IELTS Preparation course is the use of past IELTS papers in preparation for the examination. Therefore, the course prepares students directly for the type of test they will be taking ensuring the best possible result whilst learning the intricacies of the English language within an educational or professional framework.

Because TIES incorporates small class sizes, students have more one on one contact with teachers and, therefore, more opportunities to learn, practice, improve and excel in English communication. Students spend 14 hours per week of English language instruction. It is strongly recommended that students begin at the start of each term particularly for IELTS Preparation. However, they may also begin on any Tuesday during the term.

IELTS Preparation is a sequential and developmental course designed to develop students' communication skills and fluency in:

Lydia

South Korea

My name is Jung Ah Yu (Lydia) , and I am from South Korea. I studied General English and IELTS Preparation at TIES in 2010. I was very nervous about studying English in Australia, but all the teachers and students at TIES made me feel very welcome. It was hard at first studying completely in English, and it was totally different from studying in Korea, but I improved very quickly. I am still in contact with students I studied with five years later, and I passed IELTS as well! Kit and Yvette have a great school, and I would recommend to anyone to study English with them. If you would like to ask me a question about studying at TIES, I am very happy to write back.
